It’s that time again – time to get my thoughts out onto the page and hopefully, work through some of them. I’ve been through a lot these past months and at times it seems impossible to bear another minute. But then I spend time with my grandkids or have a heart to heart with my husband and remember what my life is made up of. Just like anyone else’s, it’s moments in time, some big, some small, but always significant in some way. I have a purpose and God hasn’t finished His work in me yet.
Finally, receive your power from the Lord, and his mighty strength (Eph10)
You may think that life is just too hard, and I feel for you, I really do. I can identify with that feeling even now but we can’t stay there. We must make the effort to move forward, as much as we can, even pushing ourselves a little. I know it’s hard, believe me, but we’ll do it together. If you’re feeling weak and weary, I’m there with you. If you feel like this is an impossible task, I hear you and feel your pain. If you feel like you’ve tried everything and nothing is working, I can identify with you.
I can do everything through Christ who strengthens me (Philippians 4:10)
Remember though, that the weariness is from the depression, the doubt is being caused by the emotional turmoil and that there is always something more to try. Also take note that this condition causes a person to be hard on themselves and to not care for our needs as well as we should, and that doesn’t help our mental health. This is just that – a health concern, and one that has many paths of healing to discover and utilize.
Also remember that sometimes the negative feelings are just memories of sad or anxious times that could be making you think your in a low mood. That’s why it’s so important to be very conscious of our surroundings, grounding ourselves in the present moment. The negative thought patterns are strong but their power can be broken as we work on ourselves and on those new positive pathways.
Whoever lives under the shelter of the most-high will remain in the shadow of the almighty. I will say to the Lord, you are my refuge and my fortress, my God in whom I trust (Psalm 91: 1-2)
Sometimes, I just want to be through to the other side of it, feeling good again, immediately. Then at other times I think about how good it would be to work through whatever’s causing this recurring anxiety and depression, and finally be able to let go of it. Don’t misunderstand, if medication works for you then keep using it. It is, however, important to try to understand yourself better. It will help to improve your mental health and life in general.
If you are considering medication, there is a test through both Dynacare and Lifelabs that can help to take the guesswork out of figuring out the right one. It is just another tool to help improve mood disorders. It isn’t covered by OHIP and is quite expensive. CBD is also a very popular option that many people try but it should be discussed with your health-care provider before use.
I went to the Lord for help, He answered me and rescued me from all my fears (Psalm 34:4)
